Here are the five best meat injector marinades we could think of to take your holiday season dinners to the absolute next level.

 

What is a meat injector?


The bigger your piece of meat or turkey, the more you will need this essential kitchen tool. Basically, it's like a big syringe that helps you distribute marinade throughout your whole meat, rather than just apply a rub or submerging it in meat marinade overnight, which only allows the surface to absorb the flavors.


The best thing about a meat injector is that it can be used in all kinds of meat: poultry, pork, beef... and use a bunch of different marinade recipes, too!

 

How to use a marinade meat injector?


The first thing to do is prepare your marinade by mixing well the ingredients (check out the recipes below!). Make sure the needle is attached to the meat injector, then place it in the marinade liquid you have just prepared. While the tip of the needle is completely submerged in the marinade, slowly draw up the handle of the injector.


Insert the needle in the meat (if you're cooking beef or pork, until you feel the bone) and gradually release the marinade into the meat. Don't inject just one particular side! Make several injections across the whole piece.


If the marinade comes out bubbling through the incision hole right after an injection, don't worry, just try a different place.

Classic Turkey Injector Marinade

Here's a no-brainer formula to always get the perfect turkey injection marinade: for a 15 Lbs bird, combine 1 cup melted butter, 1 cup beer, wine, or chicken stock (your choice, but make sure it's a good one), and 1 tablespoon of salt, then add seasonings to taste.


Check these two turkey injection marinade variations that will make each bite burst with flavor. For both marinade recipes, simply mix well all ingredients and inject:


Buttery & Garlicky


1 cup melted butter

1 cup beer

1 tablespoon salt

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

2 tablespoons mustard

1 tablespoon soy sauce


Spicy & Smokey


1 cup melted beer

1 cup white wine

1 tablespoon salt

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon chili flakes

1 tablespoon smoked, sweet paprika

1 tablespoon soy sauce


Cajun Injector Marinade

Cajun Spices

Ditch the store-bought, expensive stuff and learn to make your own cajun injector marinade. Easy to make, sweet, spicy, and citrusy, this is perfect as a fried turkey injector marinade, which we completely dig at Mountain Grillers, or the traditional roasted turkey. Griller also likes to apply a rub to the turkey exterior for extra yum. Here's the injector marinade recipe:


1 cup lemon juice

½ cup liquid crab boil seasoning

1 cup butter

2 tablespoons onion powder

2 tablespoons garlic powder

2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning

1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (½ teaspoon or none if you don't like it spicy)


Combine all ingredients into a saucepan, then simmer over low heat until the butter is melted. Stir well and make sure everything is well incorporated. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes, then inject.

 

Sweet and Savory Ham Injector Marinade

Pork Shoulder

Turkey is a crowd-pleaser, but we are all about a big hunk o' meat! This ham injector marinade really shines when injected into a pork shoulder, if you're looking for a juicy, flavorful pork roast. Oh boy. Who in their right mind would say no to this?


1 cup apple juice, or apple cider

¼ cup apple cider vinegar

¼ cup water

¼ cup melted butter

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons maple syrup


Combine all ingredients, mix thoroughly and inject.


Meat Marinade for BBQ: Juiciest Brisket You'll Ever Try


Wahoo! Yes! Time to get the griller going. Or smoker, either one is fine when preparing this meat marinade for your next BBQ. Try this meat injector marinade for a smash-hit brisket that you won't easily forget. Check out the recipe:


1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon whiskey

1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon soy sauce

½ teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon black pepper


Combine the ingredients thoroughly and let it rest for at least 10 minutes, letting the sugar and salt dissolve. Then, inject away making sure the whole piece of meat is evenly distributed with marinade.


Steak, Chicken, and Lamb Meat Injection Marinade

Steak BBQ

 

Lastly, this is Grillers' catch-all recipe whenever he feels like injecting a bit of flavor into otherwise bland meat, and what's great about this recipe is that is also delicious when injected into a good grilled steak. Let's take it away:


3 tablespoons tomato paste

½ cup Worcestershire sauce

½ tablespoon Tabasco sauce

2 tablespoons honey mustard (or Gulden's spicy mustard)

3 garlic cloves

½ peeled sweet onion

2 tablespoons brown sugar


For this recipe, you'll need to blend all ingredients at high speed until everything's well combined. Prepare the grill, inject evenly across the whole piece of meat, and place it when the heat is high.
